Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier

Bach conceived of the Well-Tempered Clavier as a set of exercises and pieces to be played for personal enjoyment. But South African-born pianist Daniel-Ben Pienaar has taken them public and performed both books straight through in live concerts – no small feat. While many have recorded the Well-Tempered Clavier, his 2014 double-cd album of the books shows that he has his own perspective on these works. You’ll have a chance to listen for yourself when we sample Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier, Books 1 and 2 this week.
