Baroque for Recorder
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, November 11, 2018 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
In the 1970s and 80s, there was renewed interest in performing early and baroque music on period instruments. Recorder virtuoso Michaela Petri helped fuel that authentic performance revival with her albums exploring the richness of the baroque recorder repertoire. This week, we’ll revisit one of Petri’s early recordings from 1983 that focuses on recorder concertos from Britain.
And Rachel will talk with author Georgann Eubanks whose new book, The Month of Their Ripening: North Carolina Heritage Foods Through the Year, celebrates the special foods that contribute to the distinctive identity of our state as well as the people who cultivate them.
