Program: Mozart Café
Aired: Monday, December 3, 2018 @ 12:00 pm
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
n 1768, a prodigious 12-year-old Mozart was writing his first comic opera and polishing off his 7th and 8th symphonies in Austria, while far across the ocean in the North Carolina back country, a new city – Charlotte – was coming into being. Monday, December 3rd marks the 250th anniversary of the Queen City’s founding, and WDAV celebrates with a special 2-hour edition of the Mozart Café.
Special guest Dr. Willie Griffin, Staff Historian at the Levine Museum of the New South, shares insights into the historical events that made Charlotte the city it is today. Listen below as he explains how Charlotte is unique now because of its history and how that influences the way the city is currently addressing various social and political issues.
