One of the best early music ensembles in the world is Canada's Tafelmusik, based in Toronto. Founded in 1979, the ensemble has 19 full-time members who play period instruments and specialize in historic performance and technique.
They often perform with a choir, and they have collaborated with notable soloists over the years. Their music and artistic director for many years was violinist Jeanne Lamon. During her tenure, the ensemble made a number of recordings, and we'll sample just a few of them this week.
Purchase featured CDs:
Purcell: Ayres For The Theatre
Bach: Cantatas No 54 & 170, Concerto Bwv 1060
Vivaldi: Concertos For Strings
