Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, July 11, 2021 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
This week's group of Baroque composers includes Isabella Leonarda, an important 17th century Italian composer. She entered a convent in her hometown of Novara at age 16 and remained there until the end of her life dying at age 83. As a nun, she wrote numerous religious compositions, and she was the first woman to publish sonatas. We'll also hear a selection by Dietrich Buxtehude, an important teacher and mentor to J.S. Bach.
