Inspired by the incredible true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne (Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a tour de force performance) rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) and her court.
Following the screening, members of the Charlotte Strings College will perform music by Joseph Bologne.

Can seats be reserved or is the event general admission?
Reel Music events are general admission. Doors open at 6:30pm. Reel Music screenings take place in the newly opened 145 seat theatre at the Independent Picture House. Seats are set back from the screen so moviegoers in the front row won’t be left craning their necks.
Is the theatre ADA accessible?
Yes! There are no steps and there is plenty of space in the theater for those with special needs.
Are concessions (candy, soda, popcorn, etc.) available on site?
Yes! Independent Picture House has a wide range of concessions from which to choose.
Can I skip the post-screening film discussion?
Yes! Attendees who do not want to stay for the discussion following the film will be given the opportunity to leave.
