Myelita Melton
Myelita Melton is WDAV’s Associate Content Director, an announcer, and Associate Producer for WDAV’s bilingual program Concierto. WDAV currently provides Concierto to 48 additional public radio affiliates.
Holding a MA in French and Curriculum Design from Appalachian State University, Myelita spent 10 years as a foreign language instructor before receiving a Rockefeller Scholarship for Foreign Language Teachers to produce a documentary film about the Waldensians of Valdese, NC in 1989. After the film’s successful premier, she left teaching to operate a video production company near Lenoir, NC.
After selling her production company, Myelita moved to Mooresville, where she worked for NBC’s Spanish news division, Canal de Noticias in Charlotte. When that division of NBC closed, Myelita worked as a producer at WTVI for a short time before beginning her small business, SpeakEasy Communications. SpeakEasy provides customized, on-site, Spanish language instruction and publications across the country. Myelita has written 12 books in the SpeakEasy Spanish™ series.
When Myelita gets a break from her busy schedule, she enjoys painting, traveling, and her GoldenDoodle, Doodle Bug.
