Oskar Espina-RuizWDAV’s ground-breaking program Concíerto is turning 10 and we’re throwing a Small Batch concert to celebrate. Oskar Espina Ruiz and Friends will perform a program filled with a diverse program of works by Latin American composers, from beloved Piazzolla and Villa-Lobos to groundbreaking innovators such as Alfonso Fuentes, and Orlando Jacinto García.

 

 

Verona Quartet
Tuesday, November 19 at 5:30 p.m.

The Verona Quartet are winners of the 2015 Concert Artist Guild competition, and quartet-in-residence at the New England Conservatory of Music. Learn more about Verona Quartet.

Callisto QuartetGrand prize winners of the 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize Winners of the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition. Top prize at the 2019 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition, the 2018 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and the 2018 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. Adam SnowThe Winthrop Percussion Collective, led by accomplished percussionist Adam Snow, brings together young musicians for a truly innovative program. The all-percussion performance will feature cool contemporary works and clever arrangements of classical favorites. 

Norbert Lewandowski
Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 4 p.m.

Cellist Norbert Lewandowski will present a groundbreaking program of works by Pulitzer-prize winning composer David Lang, an original arrangement of a work by Philip Glass, and a fascinating piece by young American composer Andy Akiho. Lewandowski’s use of technology and recorded cellos will challenge your conception of chamber music, while adding a never-before-seen component to our Series.

WDAV partners with the Charlotte New Music Festival to present the final Small Batch Concert of the season. Beo String Quartet, the festival’s quartet in residence, will present a program of fresh chamber works.

Our first concert has an incredible string quartet featuring musicians of the Charlotte Symphony, including concertmaster Calin Lupanu, violinist Monica Boboc, principal violist Ben Geller, and assistant principal cellist Jon Lewis.
