Aaron Rosand and Kochanski Guarnarius del Gesù
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, July 28, 2019 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
On July 9, 2019 acclaimed violinist and teacher Aaron Rosand died at age 92. Rosand's repertoire was varied, and for more than 50 years he brought the music to life on his famous 1741 ex-Kochanski Guarnarius del Gesù, an instrument he purchased for $50,000 with the help of a loan in 1957 and then sold at retirement in 2009 for $10.1 million. This week we'll listen to him play Bach and Handel on this rare and beautiful instrument.
And Rachel talks with North Carolina food writer and cook, Sheri Castle, about her latest cookbook for multi-cookers and Instant Pots called "Instantly Southern".
