Bach Suites for Lute
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, July 15, 2018 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
Bach's suites for solo cello are revered not only by cellists but also by other musicians who have adapted them for their own particular instruments over the decades. American lutenist Hopkinson Smith released an album in 2013 of cello suites transcribed for lute. We'll feature the album, Bach: Suites Nos. 4 – 6 this week.
We’ll also talk to guitarist Jason Vieaux who joins the Eastern Festival Orchestra for a performance at the Eastern Music Festival. Vieaux may be a native of Buffalo, but he knows a thing or two about Southern breakfast. Find out which foods are his favorites.
