Concertos for A Plethora of Pianos
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, February 10, 2019 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
French pianist and conductor David Fray has assembled a talented group of fellow French musicians for his latest release, Bach: Concertos for 2, 3, & 4 Pianos.
While Bach certainly did not have the modern piano in mind when he wrote his concertos, he never had qualms about adapting his music for various configurations of instruments and musicians. Fray and company demonstrate the beautiful compatibility between Bach and the piano.
And Rachel chats with composer Kile Smith about his composition, The Consolation of Apollo, that will be performed by Charlotte Master Chorale. Kile also explains how he makes the best scrambled eggs in the cosmos.
