Easter Sunday
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, April 21, 2019 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
We celebrate Easter, an extremely important occasion in Bach’s life as a church musician, by listening to his complete Easter Oratorio BWV 249. We’ll also feature other appropriate Bach selections for the day. Also on the program are selections from the Easter portion of Handel’s “Messiah”, and the rarely heard oratorio by CPE Bach, “Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus”. Scott Allen Jarrett, artistic director of Charlotte Bach Akademie, joins us to share some insights into these timeless works.
