Handel Sonatas
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, August 5, 2018 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
Handel enthusiasts, The Brook Street Band, have just released their 10th album on the Avie label, and naturally, it features music by their favorite composer. The all-female ensemble from London explore nine Handel sonatas for violin and basso continuo composed over the course of his career. It’s our featured recording this week.
And Rachel chats with composer Dan Forrest who talks about how the music of Johann Sebastian Bach informs his own compositions. You’ll also hear what he would eat for breakfast on Sunday mornings if he weren’t so busy.
