Manchester Sonatas and A Little Telemann

In 1973, Vivaldi scholar Michael Talbot discovered a set of twelve violin sonatas by Vivaldi stored away at Manchester's Central Music Library. The original owner had been Cardinal Ottoboni, a patron of the arts from Rome, who died in 1740 in so much debt that these sonatas and other works in his collection had to be sold. Over the years, they passed through many hands until they landed in Manchester.
This week we'll hear a recent recording of these "Manchester Sonatas" from violinist Mark Fewer and harpsichordist Hank Knox. We'll also celebrate the 340th birth anniversary of Georg Philipp Telemann.
