Music and Mush
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, October 9, 2022 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
This week we hear the cantata Bach wrote for the 17th Sunday after Trinity in the Liturgical Calendar, Cantata BWV 114: "Ah, dear Christians, be comforted." It dates from October 1, 1724 when Bach was still relatively new in his position of Thomaskantor in Leipzig and had the task of writing new church music nearly every week.
We also chat with Emily Epley, Travel and Tourism Director for Cleveland County, about the upcoming Mush, Music and Mutts Festival in Shelby on October 15th. The festival celebrates livermush, a food peculiar to North Carolina that is also known as the poor man's pate. Find out about its history and ingredients.
