Music for Holy Week
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, April 10, 2022 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
Johann Sebastian Bach had to write music for religious services almost every week of the year. But he was especially busy during Holy Week. For Palm Sunday, we'll hear from several notable works he composed for the Easter season including the St. John Passion, the St. Matthew Passion, and the Cantata BWV 182, "Welcome, King of Heaven." And we'll enjoy great performances by Kiri Te Kanawa, Luciano Pavarotti, the Academy of Ancient Music and Chorus, and the English Baroque Soloists and Monteverdi Choir.
