Quartets and Concertos
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, June 10, 2018 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
Although he’s considered a relatively minor player in the history of Baroque music, Johann Friedrich Fasch was well known in his day, and his music was widely performed in Germany. This week we listen to Edinburgh based Ensemble Marsyas perform music by Fasch from their 2014 album, J.F. Fasch: Quartets and Concertos.
Rachel also chats with Scott Allen Jarrett, artistic director of Bach Akademie Charlotte, a new organization in the Charlotte area devoted to the music of Bach and the baroque era. Although it’s only their first year of existence, they’re launching their inaugural Charlotte Bach Festival.
