Heinrich Schütz was Germany's pre-eminent composer in the century before Bach. He spent most of his career working in the court of the Elector of Saxony in Dresden writing many works for liturgical use. The Yale Schola Cantorum led by David Hill has just released an album of Schütz's sacred music for this time of year entitled "Schütz: The Christmas Story and Other Works". We'll listen to some selections this week.
