The Notebook
Program: Biscuits & Bach
Aired: Sunday, August 13, 2017 @ 7:00 am
Hosted by Rachel Stewart
Most Bach fans are familiar with the Anna Magdalena Notebook compiled by Bach's second wife for the purpose of instructing the Bach children in music. But it was not the first notebook of its sort in J.S. Bach’s family. Some years before, he had compiled one for and with Wilhelm Friedemann, his eldest son by his first wife, Maria Barbara. We hear selections from that notebook as recorded by German-American pianist Wolfgang Rübsam on the 1995 Naxos recording, J.S. Bach: From the W.F. Bach Notebook.
Purchase Featured CD: Wolfgang Rübsam: Bach from the W.F. Bach Notebook, Etc.
