Phil Vavra
Phil Vavra has enjoyed a long career in radio. He joined Classical Public Radio 89.9 WDAV in 2025 after 11 years on K104.7 (WKQC) in Charlotte. Prior to that, Phil hosted the midday show for 12 years at the former Lite 102.9. He has also held on-air, production, news, and sales positions in Pittsburgh, Austin, and Seattle.
When he’s not in a radio studio, Phil might be taking in a concert, honing his culinary skills, or traveling throughout the Carolinas and beyond with his wife, Sara, a mental health counselor. Their family also includes two adult sons and two hyperactive dogs. And, as a graduate of Duquesne University, Phil still follows Atlantic 10 basketball, so you may run into him at a Davidson Wildcats game.
